How to go from PageRank 0 to PageRank 4 in 1 yr
This is a case study I am doing for myself so that I can learn from it and teach it to others who are interested in making money online, as my goal is to learn from the success and create a Free Web Content Empire.
This is a very good example of blog success which has been able to make money online with persistence and consistence effort and I am sure a lot of planning and hard work. No No the author of desinotes.com did not pay me nor is this a paid review.
DesiNotes.com started in July of 2006 and he managed 1 post and again in August 2006 he had 1 post, but in September of 2006 he had (27) posts and on average 2 posts/day from there on.
1. Now the interesting Part is what was the trigger? we will ask him.
DesiNotes.com: The trigger was the motivation post of StevePavlina.com. Even though his overall posts are not interesting to me, his money making post caught my eye. He makes 40k per month, mostly from AdSense and I know I could do that because I know how to use AdSense well, but the only thing I needed was traffic, which he had.
2. When did he started Monetizing his blog and how much were the earnings?
DesiNotes.com: I started monetizing my blog when I first started blogging. I know as a regular blogger that was a big mistake. My blog was new and all I thought about was making money since the blogsphere was huge, but I know that was awrong turn on my part. I bombed my page with all sorts of different ads, but after a while I took them down and placed only few ads here and there such as AdSense and AuctionAds. I wanted to create a blog for readers and not for advertisements.
3. What were the initial challenges and how he overcame them?
DesiNotes.com: There were numerous initial challenges. Getting the attention of my readers was one of them. Others are as follows:
Keeping readers on my blog
This was not that hard to overcome. I decided to add a bit of humor within my post and it gave me credibility to attract readers to stay on my site and read more of my posts.
Getting Traffic
This was one of the most greatest challenging as a blogger. I think failure in getting traffic is what destroys a blog and destroys the motivation of the blogger. I decided to overcome with whatever I had to do. I tried focusing on certain keywords and tried to get free traffic, but that didn’t work out well. After a while of thinking and researching I decided to pay for traffic and got John Chow to direct some traffic to my site.
Getting a Nice and Clean Template
I looked around for various WordPress templates, whether they were free or premium, and I didn’t like any of them. Then a visitor on my site names “v” gave me a link to sites which I never visited before and there I found the ProBlogger template, which I use currently.
Getting Linkbacks
In my early stage of blogging, it wasn’t that hard to get other sites to link back to mine. I used BlogCarnival.com to get free links from relevant blogs to link back to my site. By doing so I know I will be increasing my chances of getting a even higher PR and credibility.
Writing Quality Posts
I didn’t really understand what it meant to write quality posts till I judged other’s posts. Writing several sentences per post threw me off and for those blogs who did that, I never came back to check them out again. I learned that in order for me to write quality posts for my readers I need to write it for myself first. So, whenever I write something I write well for myself first and evaluate how well my own writing is.
Getting a Focus
The main challenge which I overcame was getting a focus topic for my blog. First I blogged about what I know, then I tried to make an entertainment blog, then I decided to make a Bollywood blog. After a while I research what I like talking about and what I can write which will help others so, I decided to write about random rambling, that didn’t work out too well. Then I talked with Kumiko from cashquests.com and she she advised me that I should stick with a concrete topic, which lead me to bottle down to the topic of blogging.
4. Around what time and content wise the earnings were constant?
DesiNotes.com: I have no constant earnings, the earnings fluctuate up and down. Right now I’m learning from my mistakes, since I depended on AdSense I don’t make as much as before. However, I am slowly diversifying my income.
5. What were the major milestones in your blogging carrier?
DesiNotes.com: The major milestones which I reached would be getting my blog to be active and fun. I know my blog isn’t an entertainment blog full of movies, and music, and games, but I try to make it fun.
6. What are the future Goals and Plans?
DesiNotes.com: I want my blog to be a central place to discuss what small time bloggers can do to improve their sites. One of my readers wrote that if I continue on what I’m doing then I may surely reach John Chow’s level, since my blog’s growth pattern is just like John’s.
Thanks a lot for your time and energy and I am sure many will benefit from your experience.
